First up we visit Porter & Rye in Finnieston.
This stretch of Argyle Street has been rejuvenated by a proliferation of smart restaurants and trendy gastro pubs. Porter & Rye leads the way with small plate dining and dry-aged beef. They know how to handle a steak, serving up cuts to share or enjoy on your own, all specially supplied from a local farm. Even their salad has beef in it.
For a lunchtime bite, their skirt steak bun is packed with flavour as tender seared meat is enclosed in a soft bun and piled high with fresh ingredients. To finish things off the dish comes with a side and a sauce: we opted for a rich barbeque sauce and a pot of bone marrow mac ‘n’ cheese.
Skirt Steak Bun with slow roast flat cap mushrooms, caramelised onions, dijon mustard, mizuna, and your choice of side and sauce (£12.95)
